Bending stiffness tester Taber®

The Taber® Stiffness Tester is used to evaluate material stiffness and resilience. One Taber unit is the bending moment of 1/5 of a gram applied to a 3.8 cm wide specimen at 5 cm length while flexing it to a 15° angle. According to the applications you have the choice between a manually or automatically operated instrument.

Bending stiffness tester Gurley

Measures the force required to bend a wide variety of materials (paper, board, wovens, films, plastics, wires, tubing) using many different sizes and shapes under controlled and repeatable conditions. This force may be equated to stiffness, resilience, flexibility or pliability, depending on the nature of the material and purpose of test.

The specimen is moved across a smooth low-friction platform at a constant rate. As the leading edge of the specimen projects from the platform, it bends under its own mass. The length of the overhang is measured when the specimen’s leading edge contacts the indicator. From this measured length, the bending length and flexural rigidity are calculated.
