Nieuwe oscillating abrasion tester

We are very pleased to announce the new Taber Model 6160 oscillating abrasion tester. This unit will replace the now discontinued Model 6100.

The new Model 6160 is based on the "oscillating sand tester" as described in the popular ASTM International test method for Aerospace and Aircraft (ASTM F735). The instrument is used to measure the relative resistance or susceptibility of a material to surface abrasion and scratching caused by an oscillating abrasive media. With the optional Bayer test kit  the Model 6160 can determine the abrasion resistance of ophthalmic lenses. Applications of the 'Bayer Test' include transparent materials and coatings.

The new design of the Oscillating Abrasion Tester allows for increased operating stability. The speed range has remained 100-200 cycles per minute but the range of stroke lengths have increased - there is now an adjustable range from 0.25 - 6.0 inches (6.5 - 152.5mm).
